France, Germany

The thirty or so inhabitants of La Motte Chalancon spent a very good twinning weekend in Stembert.

After four long years without seeing each other because of Covid, Stembertois and Mottois could finally meet again for their twinning. And many activities were on the program to welcome the inhabitants of La Motte Chalancon. We welcomed them in Banneux before taking them to their landlords for a first night on Thursday night," explains Emile Lepaon, the president of the twinning in Stmbert. Then, there was the protocol part in the town hall followed by the visit of the Darcis chocolate factory and the evening of Friday, which was under the theme of disco. A perfect evening at the Tanière des Leûps with a great atmosphere until closing time. As for Saturday, we performed a shooting with the Intimes Carabiniers stembertois before a final evening at the Tanière des Leûps."

The outcome of this twinning is "more than satisfactory. What is most important to us is the satisfaction of our French guests. And the feedback we've had is great and very positive."

In addition, besides the youth, there were also new Mottois participants. "We had four new participants for this twinning. They were a bit reserved at first having had false information about Belgium. But they took the plunge and in the end, they are very satisfied with both the welcome and the setting of the region, which is very beautiful. "

So there is nothing but positive that comes out of this twinning celebrated throughout this weekend on the Stembert side. "We are obviously proud of this twinning. So far, it works well, even if there was, at the time, a little floating. But there is also the importance of political support for a successful twinning. And we hope that he will continue to be involved both personally and financially, with a helping hand via the subsidy that we still badly need."
