A few months ago, Colette Noël, president of the twinning committee, had sounded the alarm and called for renewal. Created in 1987, the twinning which links five communes of Kerné-Uhel to five communes of the country of Ballivourney, in Ireland, had organized trips for families and young people, welcomed on both sides of the Channel.

These friendly, dynamic, simple and joyful exchanges, according to Colette Noël, took place until 2016, when Irish families came to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the twinning in central Brittany. Since then, the committee has been dormant, until the recent threat of closure.

About twenty people came on Friday to express their desire not to abandon the story. Daniel Talon, elected new president, remembers: At the beginning, this twinning was a family affair, we went to the families and welcomed the Irish in our homes. Then, at their request, it became a little more touristy. They would stay three days and we would take them to visit Paris... The desire is to return to the beginning, to local exchanges.

Sabine Kergoet and Riwanon An Habask, members of the board, propose to work in network: colleges, music school, around the language or music. The repertoire is rich and can be shared.
