Congo/African Statistics Day: the 32nd edition celebrated in Pointe-Noire

The event took place on November 18 at the House of the Republic, in the presence of Jean Charles Ondonda, Secretary General of the Pointe-Noire Prefecture. He was accompanied by Roland Brice Mambou Miambanzila and Eudoxie Claudine Kibangou Hombessa, respectively director of statistical coordination at the National Institute of Statistics and departmental director of the National Institute of Statistics.

The 32nd African Statistics Day was celebrated under the theme "Strengthening data systems by modernizing the production and use of agricultural statistics: How to better support policies and improve resilience of agriculture, nutrition and food security in Africa? ". During this meeting, participants exchanged on various sub-themes, namely the presentation of the expectations of the workshop and the national statistical system; the presentation of the texts of the national statistical system; the realizations and perspectives of the national statistical system; national accounts, foreign trade statistics and business statistics; price statistics and statistics on business registration; agricultural surveys: Status and Prospects.

For the Director of Statistical Coordination at the National Institute of Statistics, this theme calls on the entire population and public authorities to ensure that agriculture can meet a number of challenges in order to avoid food insecurity for the Congolese. "Agricultural statistics must be produced on a regular basis so that members of the government can take useful decisions to develop this sector ," he said.

For her part, the departmental director of the National Institute of Statistics in Pointe-Noire, Eudoxie Claudine Kibangou Hombessa, said that by joining with other countries in the world in general and Africa in particular, theand Africa in particular, the Congo proves, through this celebration, its commitment to the improvement of official statistics for sustainable development and the national statistical system.

For his part, the Secretary General of the Prefecture of Pointe-Noire, Jean Charles Ondonda, explained that the need to have an efficient and reliable device is more pressing. This device allows to regularly measure the performances recorded at the departmental level in the framework of the execution of the program of the government of the Republic.
