Algeria/Government meeting with walis: Call to provide the body of walis with a Statute
Participants in the first workshop organized as part of the meeting Government-walis, whose work was closed Sunday in Algiers, called to provide the body of walis with a Statute to strengthen its place in the legal arsenal and regulatory state.

They also emphasized "the need to reorganize the external services of the state under the responsibility of the wali and adapt them to serve the economic missions of public authorities.
Among other recommendations, is the strengthening of planning missions within the prerogatives of the wali in order to achieve the development goals set and programmed on the short, medium and long term, through its provision of modern public management tools based on strategic planning, exploration, monitoring and evaluation.

It was also a question of insisting on the imperative to devote the role of the wali in local economic development in the context of the ongoing revision of the code of the wilaya, and this, taking into account the cohesion of the various laws and regulations governing the action at local level with the prerogatives entrusted to the walis in a new economic approach.
