The CHU Brugmann, a hospital in Brussels, is planning to open a gender clinic, writes "Le Spécialiste" on Thursday, based on information from the hospital's director general, Caroline Franckx. It would be the first clinic of this type in the capital. The country currently has only three such clinics, in Ghent, Liege (both registered), and Genk (not registered), and demand is high, according to the hospital.

An opening planned for 2023

The project is "in theprocess of being finalized", and should be completed in the second quarter of 2023, according to the Specialist. The aim is to offer "a multidisciplinary follow-up (psychiatry, endocrinology, surgery,...)", with as novelty "a first consultation in tandem with an endocrinologist and a psychiatrist. (...) associations and field workers have drawn our attention to the fact that too often the first consultation is only at the psychiatric level", says Caroline Franckx. It will initially be a non-conventional center.
