Benin/National Assembly adopts framework law on technical education and vocational training

The deputies of the eighth legislature, unanimously of those present and represented, adopted by vote on Tuesday the law N°2022-01 on the framework law on technical education and vocational training in the Republic of Benin, in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Gaston Dossouhoui and the Minister of Technical Secondary Education and Vocational Training, representing the government.

This law, which consists of fifty-six articles divided into five chapters, repeals some of the provisions of Law No. 2003-17 of November 11, 2003, on the orientation of national education.These innovations include the implementation of an inclusive and holistic approach to education, the piloting of secondary education and technical and vocational training in collaboration with the private sector, the regulation of flows by reversing the trend in favor of technical and vocational education and training, the mode of pedagogical and administrative governance, and the linking of technical and vocational education and training.

On behalf of the government, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Gaston Dossouhoui and his counterpart in charge of secondary education, congratulated and expressed their gratitude to the elected members of the eighth legislature for all that has been done and which led to the adoption of the said law.

The parliamentarians also considered during this plenary session, other issues including the bill authorizing the ratification of the Convention establishing the World Alliance of Drylands. A convention which, it is said, aims to strengthen the food security of member states.
