The council of the Douala Urban Community (CUD) has taken the gamble of increasing its budget for the 2022 fiscal year. The second increase in the space of two years. This is a 3% increase compared to the 2021 fiscal year.

The budget breakdowns indicate that 59.8% of this budget will be devoted to operating expenses. That is to say 35.2 billion FCFA. While 23.7% of the same budget (23.6 billion CFA francs) will be allocated to investment expenditure. The operating revenues amount to 55.3 billion CFA francs. Those relating to investments are set at CFAF 3.5 billion. "We have adopted a budget that is slightly higher than last year's budget. We are staying the course in terms of resources. It is a very realistic and solid budget," justified Dr. Roger Mbassa Ndine, Mayor of Douala on December 31, 2021 during the session devoted to the vote on the budget. The 2022 budget of the Douala Urban Community provides for an amount of CFAF 24.6 billion in payment credits and CFAF 64.5 billion in commitment authorizations in the "economic development and environmental protection" segment. The program on "the promotion of citizenship, culture, sports and support for youth" is included in the same budget in the amount of CFAF 2.08 billion in payment credits (CFAF 2.01 billion in commitment authorizations). For the "governance and local administration" axis, a sum of 29.9 billion CFA francs in payment credits and 31.7 billion CFA francs in commitment authorizations is planned. According to these programs, the projected commitment authorizations have been set at a total of CFAF 100.9 billion, and CFAF 58.9 billion in payment credits.
