Of the 135,000 euros available, 77,000 were finally injected into the operation.

Meeting this Thursday evening, the elected representatives of Lessinois had to decide on an exceptional subsidy of 58 020 euros in favour of the ADL. An amount which results from the operation of the vouchers of 10 euros distributed to each lessinois to support the local economy. Of the 85,000 euros planned, 26,980 were spent.

These figures, for Isabelle Privé (Soci@libre) suggest that the operation was not as successful as expected. The alderwoman of commerce qualified this assessment by reminding that the 85 000 euros released by the city were accompanied by 50 000 euros from the ADL which were spent. Of the 135,000 euros available, 77,000 euros were therefore injected into the operation. "Unfortunately, we can't control the citizens' wallets. The overall balance of this initiative will be drawn up with the ADL", explained Line De Mecheleer (MR). Isabelle Privé said that it was important to consult the shopkeepers to get their feedback.

The exact destination of the subsidy to the ADL has not yet been defined, but it could be used for projects to make the city centre of Lessin more attractive or to finance a plan to revive local trade after the crisis. The bad news is that for the people of Lessin who, as you read these lines, remember that a 10 euro voucher is lying at the bottom of a drawer, the operation ended on 31 May.
