The Association des Jeunes Ressortissants de la Basse-Kotto pour la Paix et le Développement, in partnership with the French military of the MISLOG carried out a ceremony of distribution of school kits for the benefit of the pupils of Mobaye, chief town of the prefecture of Basse-Kotto this Thursday, September 23, 2021.

On behalf of the Association des Jeunes Ressortissants de la Basse-Kotto pour la paix et le DéveloppementHis Excellency the President, Mr. Koïchiro Matsuura. KOLITI Vianney Cornéa was keen to situate the scope of this gift before urging parents to let their children go to school, because these kits will give them the value in their studies.

"They have to go to school. Maybe tomorrow, school will help them to become somebody in this country". According to him, during the recent crisis that shook the country, many children have lost their parents, and others are forced, for lack of means, abandoned their studies. It is hoped that these kits will give them hope to return to school.

For the mayor of Lobaye, Mr. DAKPO Marc, the town of Mobaye, is gradually beginning to regain its former calm thanks to the presence of the defense and security forces, the Blue Helmets of the UNMISCA. Except that in the outlying villages, the UPC rebels are still present and scare the population.

According to him, the school is functioning as well as it can in Mobaye, but some of the teachers assigned to the region are still in Bangui, only some of them have returned to their posts.

For Warrant Officer Laurent of the French logistical mission, this donation of 100 school kits is provided to the students of Mobaye through the association of Young Nationals of Lower Kotto for Peace and Developmentrepresented by Mr. Kouchner. KOLITI Vianney Cornéa, its President who made the mission aware of the fact that the Basse-Kotto is geographically far from Bangui and that the children have the same needs as elsewhere.

"Following their arguments, which made us very aware, we were able, with our humble means, to provide them with this gift of school kits.

Let us recall that the recent military-political crisis that shook the CAR, the prefecture of Basse-Kotto has not been spared. For nearly 7 years, the region was completely invaded by armed groups, destroying homes, administrative buildings, etc..

But for more than 7 months, with the return of calm in the country and the deployment of the defense and security forces in the region, a precarious calm has been established.
